Technical and performance requirements of cold work die steel
①High hardness
The hardness is usually required to be 58~62HRC, the purpose is to ensure that the mold does not undergo plastic deformation or collapse.
②High wear resistance
It can ensure that the dimensional accuracy of the mold remains unchanged during long-term work.
③Sufficient strength and toughness
Ensure that the die does not collapse or break under the impact load, bending load, etc.
④ Small deformation after heat treatment
Ensure the shape and dimensional accuracy of the mold
⑤High hardenability
Even in a quenching medium with slow cooling, sufficient hardened hard layer can be obtained, reducing the tendency of deformation and cracking.
Technical and performance requirements of hot work die steel
① Maintain high mechanical properties at high temperature
During the working process of the hot work mold, the temperature of the mold itself can reach 300 ~ 600 ℃, the mold should have sufficient strength, toughness, hardness and wear resistance at the working temperature, and should have high tempering stability. Such as: QRO 90 SUPREME, DIEVAR, DH31-S, DH31-EX, HD (4Cr3Mo2NiVNb), GR (4Cr3Mo3W4VNb), etc.
②Good thermal fatigue resistance
Prevent the formation of fatigue cracks due to repeated heating of hot metal and cooling of water and oil.
③High hardenability
Ensure consistent mechanical properties across the entire cross-section of large molds.
④Good thermal conductivity
Good thermal conductivity, can quickly transfer the absorbed heat to avoid excessive temperature inside the cavity and on the surface.
